I was able to call out for the first 2 days, but had no outgoing messaging capability. Got ahold of a representative this a.m. who offered no real help other than verifying that I was trying to do it correctly and to say she’d report the problem to tech support. Now I have NO PHONE CONNECTION WHATSOEVER and have paid for 2 weeks of service – and am stuck on first trip to SE Asia with no way to get ahold of DTAC. Miserable service.

     Sorry didn’t read very well.
don’t you have a friend in Thailand. He, she can buy topup or refiil and email the codes to you. you can put them in your phone abroad, and topup
    Hope this will help

If you are still in Thailand at the moment you can buy prepaid topup cards. And acivate them for free even in Europe.
You can also check your balance for free in Europe If not than it’s expensive with a creditcard online. But that wil cost a lot.
    Hope this helps

  • Yens0705

how to apply blackberry packet using this happy simcard?

DTAC’s translation service is a lifesaver sometimes.  They charge the same as any phone call. So if you have the plan which gives you 25 satang/minute calling a DTAC number, then you get charged this for translation. I did a very long letter to an important friend about my history and work, It took 1.5 hours, and on my plan cost around 200 baht.

One complaint:  I have called the call center several times asking them to send me SMS messages only in English please.  But I still get about 30 messages each day in Thai.  Really annoying

Another thing is, callback service doesn’t seen to work on my phone. So I no longer have those

if you talk about SMS received as a response to your request (*…..#) – just add *9 before last hash. For example, *101*4# returns Internet package usage info in Thai, but dial *101*4*9# and it’s in English. Works for any requests I ever tried.

If about those SMS which arrive to the number spontaneously (promotions, spam, wrong numbers, etc.)… hm I guess copy-paste to google translate would help. I do exactly that, if I see (as can read Thai a bit) this may be something useful, like a new promotion. It happens to be useful very seldom, however.

if in Thailand, it’s possible to top-up with credit card in any DTAC office (I did many times, also getting 100B Happy bonus for every 800B top up, plus 100 days validity)

or you mean you’re abroad? but how then can need to spend so much? frankly, I seldom ended up using more than 1000/month even in Thailand (including 199 or 399 internet package), and when not in Thailand, I mostly use it for incoming SMS (so nearly 0B/mth), replying from either online service or local SIM

  • Shaul_shwimmer

I would like to refill Happy SIM using payment service over the Internet like Mastercard service. Happy refill cards at 7eleven are available within Thailand only.

  • Dalmazio

How do I convert my SMS messages received from Happy from Thai to English? I never know what they mean, as I don’t read Thai.

  • Melaine

I am know buying Happy prepaid card, for 100 bahts. The card last one week but I am not using all my credit. If I buy a new one every week, I get a lot of unused credit.
    Is there a cheaper way?

    Thank you
