This cellular to WiFi router is really interesting and intriguing. I’m going to be in a condo for a month with no internet and this sounds like a great work-around for my lack of connectivity and trying to find an internet cafe that would let me use my laptop on their wireless. What I need to do is Mac-only running some specific software. I’ll be looking at this D-Link router with keen interest.
I have just bought this device and managed to make it work after a bit of trial and error.
It is highly unstable. Sometimes WiFi works, sometimes it doesn’t. Sometimes the 3G works, sometimes it doesn’t. It has to be restarted many times if at first things don’t work.
I definitely would recommend against buying his device. The time spent trying to make it work is not worth the alleged convenience in using this device.
I picked up the iFox MIFI-30 about a month ago and have been using it continuously since then. I’d say that it is near flawless.
The only problems I have had were because I didn’t understand that once a 100MB or 1000MB or 10 day or whatever SIM is exhausted, it can’t simply be “topped up” a la normal topping up service… Or rather, it CAN be topped up, but 100 baht added to a spent SIM lasts about 10 minutes.
I blame only myself and the salesperson at Pantip from whom I purchased the device for this lack of understanding – and the appx. 1000 baht I threw at tiny bursts of connectivity when I was away from metro Bangkok.

Very disappointed.

Oh – one more re: iFox MIFI-30…
The built in software for managing the device on a Macintosh sucks.
I’ve heard that the Win software is great… Haven’t yet tried it…
